A Tribute to Paul H. Spencer (1923 - 2014)

Sad news... we have just learned of the passing of Paul Spencer, who edited the Cabell studies journal Kalki from 1975 to 1993. He was 91 years old. Paul was highly regarded in fantasy/sf/horror circles from the late 40s as an erudite essayist, an avid fan, and a true gentleman. He was especially noted for his association with the weird writer Dr David H. Keller, contributing introductions and bibliographies, as well as editing a collection for Arkham House. Aside from his work on Keller and Cabell he published essays on Robert E. Howard, August Derleth, A. Merritt, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Evangeline Walton. He also produced some short stories of his own, one a completion of an unfinished David Keller story. Just recently we were privileged to talk to Paul long distance, the result of which is an interview posted in our Kalki Archives:
