This lovely neo-Victorian illustration for "Happy Ending" was drawn by Ninon MacKnight (1908-2000). She was born in Australia, but lived and worked in the United States, where she primarily illustrated children's books. This early composition (she was only 24 when this was published!) is clearly derivative of Arthur Rackham, but she developed her own style in her later work...
